Early this morning, Apple released firmware version 2.2 for the iPhone and iPhone 3G. The updated software delivers a number of improvements to Google Maps, the email application, Safari browser and also decreases call failures and makes podcasts available for download directly in the iTunes application.
With the new software, The Google Maps application now includes Street View, as well as Public transit and Walking direction options. Display address of dropped pins and Share location via email capabilities have also been inserted.
The Email has also been updated and the issue of downloading messages, as set in timed intervals, has been fixed. In addition to this, Apple claims to have achieved a more desirable outlook for wide HTML emails. To the Safari browser a new search-friendly user interface, better performance and more stability have been added.
Other new features include better sound quality for Visual Voicemail, the option to switch on or off the auto-correct feature and the possibility to download Podcasts in iTunes application beside the Wi-Fi and cellular network.
