Archos announces 13.3 inch FamilyPad2 tablet

posted at 02 March, 2013

The first FamilyPad was introduced in November and launched in December, and now, just months after its launch, Archos introduces the Archos FamilyPad2 tablet which packs a huge 13.3 inch screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800 but no outstanding pixel density.

The FamilyPad2 is powered by a dual-core 1.6GHz processor with a Mali 400 MP4 GPU and 1GB of RAM to back it up. It has 8GB of native storage which can also be expanded using the 64GB microSD slot. The back and front camera are both carrying 2-megapixels sensors, while Android 4.1 comes installed out of the box.

The Archos FamilyPad2 ships with a "quick stand" to help users handle the large 13.3 inch display, and will be soon coming to Europe for 299 EUR ($389 USD). Unfortunately, U.K. and U.S. pricing has not yet been disclosed although the tablet will be landing there as well.

The Archos FamilyPad2’s main attraction point seems to be its unusually large screen, as there are not too many Android powered models that pack a 13.3 inch display. If the display’s low-resolution doesn’t bother you too much, then the tablet’s features and Android 4.1 out of the box, should be reason enough to purchase the Archos FamilyPad2.
