Google launched a new version of their Google Maps application that uses a Virtual GPS to pinpoint your physical location without the need for an actual GPS receiver. This new service is called “My Location” and it can determine your position within a few meters, by using the cell tower information triangulation.
The mobile tower information allows the "My Location" feature to estimate your current location with an accuracy of around 200 meters. Please find below Google’s official demo for this new service.
To download the new software type in your phone's web browser the following address www.google.com/gmm. The application will work wherever Google Maps for Mobile is available and can currently be installed on Java, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile and Symbian S60 devices.
