HTC One gets Android 4.2.2 OTA update in Taiwan
The Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for the international HTC One arrived a bit later than initially promised, but has finally been launched OTA (over-the-air) to owners in Taiwan. The 465 MB update brings the software to version 2.24.709.1, and also bumps the API level to that of Android 4.2.2.
HTC has included several UI changes and plenty of new features. There is now a new lock screen style widget, but also some launcher bar and Home button enhancements, which includes the option to make the navigation bar removable to provide more homescreen estate.
The update information screen that pops up before downloading the update also shows that HTC has come up with some "launcher bar enhancements", but hasn’t disclosed any further details. Moreover, the widget panel has been rearranged and the battery level is now displayed in the status bar.
The black bar on the bottom which provides a menu button is now gone (although HTC’s alternative has not been provided yet), and the quick settings panel is now able to display 12 settings by default. Another important feature would be that the auto exposure and focus in the camera app can now be locked on the viewfinder screen.
Unfortunately, HTC hasn't yet announced the exact time frame hat the update will be available for HTC One smartphones outside Taiwan.
