LG scores big in its display battle with Samsung as it has officially unveiled the world's slimmest Full HD LCD panel that is designed exclusively for smartphones. The 5.2-inch display will enable manufacturers to produce thinner Full HD smartphones, as the trend is, without compromising when it comes to image quality.

The newly launched LCD panel is just 2.2m thick with a very slim 2.3mm bezel, and this makes the panel the slimmest and narrowest among the existing Full HD LCD panels that are designed for smartphones.

The company's latest display makes use of Advanced One-Glass-Solution to enable better touchscreen experience. The dual flexible printed circuits, which are placed between the panel and touch film, reduce the number of lines on the panel by 30%. Another advantage would be that the direct bonding system used is said to enable greater brightness. The panel's 1080 x 1920 pixels all have full set of subpixels: Red, Green, and Blue, forming a conventional RGB matrix.

LG claims that its new display panel outperforms all the current full HD LCD panels with a brightness of up to 535 nits. The panel will also perform well even in sunlight conditions as suggested by its Ambient Contrast Ratio results of 3.74:1 based on 10,000 lux.
