Micromax Canvas 4 launched in India for $295
You may not have heard too much about the Indian company Micromax, but from time to time they do release some pretty interesting devices in terms of specs and affordability. The company has now launched a highly anticipated phone in India, the Canvas 4. Even if the smartphone got teased pretty often and was even up for pre-order, without announcing the full price, it was only today that the Canvas 4 was finally unveiled at an event in New Delhi.
The Canvas 4 comes with a 5.0-inch, 1280 x 720 'TRU-HD' IPS panel and gets its power from a 1.2GHz quad-core processor. It also features a 13-megapixels rear camera with five element lens, image stabilization, multiple face detection and vertical panorama, as well as a 5-megapixels front camera. The phone has dual SIM and dual standby functionality, expandable memory, flip cover option, a 2,000mAh battery to power it and Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean out of the box.
One of the most interesting (but also unusual) features of this phone is Blow to Unlock, which actually allows you to blow a kiss to your phone to unlock it. Other features include video pinning (on the homescreen) and looking away to pause video (“borrowed” from Samsung's TouchWiz), or turning the phone face down during a call to automatically switch to loudspeaker mode.
The Micromax Canvas will cost an affordable INR17,999 (about $295) and will be on sale this weekend in India.
