In terms of organizer options the 5310 covers the usual Nokia features. We have the calendar feature that can hold up to 3,000 entries and can be viewed under month, week, and day. There are five types of events: reminder, meeting, call, birthday and memo.

Each event has its own specific fields like start and end time, type of alert with various advance intervals, daily, weekly and monthly repetition. Text notes are also available but with a limited length of 3000 characters. The alarm clock is repeatable and can be set to go off on any weekday and works even when the phone is turned off.

Other useful organizing functions include a voice recorder (max 60 min length), stopwatch, countdown timer and a calculator.

Beside the Organizer, Nokia 5310 classic comes with a good number of preinstalled applications. We have here the Nokia Sensor application, used for Bluetooth communication. It allows the user to detect other users who are in their neighborhood and to exchange messages with them. The standard unit converter remains unchanged and is consistently useful, offering all kinds of converting.

Unlike the new 5610 XpressMusic slider that was unveiled at the same time, the 5310 only supports tri-band GSM/EDGE (900/1800/1900MHz), lacking 3G connectivity.

Without 3G, browsing the internet will not be one of the highlights of the Nokia 5310. Nevertheless, there are a few useful web-based applications included by Nokia to make the most of the phone's internet capabilities. These include the famous Opera Mini Java application, to compensate the standard Nokia XHTML browser and Yahoo! Go mobile software.

The Web browsing experience can hardly be compared to the one on Nokia's smartphones but still we found it at a more than decent level.

In terms of PC connectivity, Nokia 5310 offers support for wireless connections through the Bluetooth, version 2.0 with A2DP and the standard USB cable.

As a conclusion, we might say Nokia 5310 is a good music phone that can rival Sony Ericsson's Walkman range. We loved the ultraslim, lightweight design, the practical keypad and the hot looks. We hated the lack of 3G and the very poor camera but if you are not in great need of these two, the Nokia 5310 XpressMusic sounds like a great deal.
