Nokia 7500 Prism review: Outstanding design (See all reviews)
- The wizzard, 13 November 2007.
The message menu is organized perfectly and looks similar to other Nokia devices.
Besides the SMS option, Nokia Prism is also capable of handling multimedia messages, emails and sound messages.
The maximum amount of characters a message can take is limited to 1000.
A handy feature for the MMS option is that, the phone will automatically scale down any picture you want to send.
The email client is fully functional and can work with POP3, SMTP and IMAP4 accounts.
Both message headers and entire messages can be downloaded but their maximum size is limited to 300 KB.
The music player seems to be an elaborate one, having extensive setup options. You might say it is identical to the one Nokia has used for the 5300.
Working with MP3, AAC, AAC , MIDI and WMA formats, the player comes with an equalizer and a stereo expansion function.
Together with the phone, Nokia is also delivering a HS-47 headset, featuring a 2.5 mm jack.
There is also an FM radio in case you’ve had enough with your MP3 player. The stations are searched automatically but you can also type directly a specific frequency and later on store it, as Nokia 7500 can remember up to 20 stations.
If it's connected to the wireless Web, the radio can identify what song is playing, who sings it, and other artist information.
The video player works with MP4 and 3GP formats. You can play your videos in fullscreen mode but also forward and rewind them.
The gallery looks pretty complicated at a first glance and with no file filtering. You will have to arrange the right type of files in the right folder.
Other extras of the gallery would be the available Slideshow and Search options. The search option is quite useful for finding a specific file in overcharged folders.
Nokia 7500 Prism has an integrated WAP 2.0 browser that can manage HTML pages and features font size modification and direct address entering.
There is also a preinstalled version of the Opera Mini Java application.
