Nokia Lumia 1000 EOS PureView to sport P2i waterproofing tech

The Nokia Lumia 1000 EOS, the company’s upcoming flagship that comes with PureView camera, is expected to be the first production device to debut P2i waterproofing technology that was showcased at MWC 2013.

This is a nano-coating technology which works at a molecular level to keep liquids off the surface of phone components (the delicate internals, in particular) and, unlike the current tech found on other modern smartphones (like the Sony Xperia Z), P2i doesn’t require the typical various ports to be sealed with covers, which can be annoying.

According to reports, Nokia is planning to debut this P2i technology on its next flagship, the PureView equipped Lumia 1000 EOS.

As we said, the Lumia EOS is expected to be packing the Nokia 808 PureView 41-megapixel camera with optical image stabilisation and feature a ligh-weight aluminium unibody. The P2i technology only ads to the potential of this highly-anticipated smartphone, as users might use it to take spectacular underwater shots and footage.

The Lumia EOS is also reported to sport an angular design while focusing on a new look. Another aluminium-bodied revamp of the Lumia 920, dubbed the Catwalk, is said to be in the works as well.

Here’s a short video showing the advantages of P2i's nano-coating technology.
