Nokia N95 8GB review: Multimedia King (See all reviews)
- The wizard, 22 June 2008.
Following the market success of Nokia N95, which became a hit with its combined all-in-one functionality, the Finnish company has launched N95 8GB sporting, as its name suggests, an 8 GB in-built memory. The Nokia N95 8GB is actually an updated version of the original N95 and while it's still rather chunky, there are a couple of serious changes to it that make it a significantly better mobile phone than its predecessor.
Main Features:
- 5MP camera with auto focus and Carl Zeiss optics
- 2.8 inch 16M color QVGA display
- Symbian OS 9.2 Series 60 3rd edition Feature Pack 1 user interface
- Massive storage capacity and increased RAM
- 3G (HSDPA), EDGE and GPRS support
- Wi-Fi with UPnP technology
- Built-in GPS receiver and A-GPS functionality
- Nokia maps application
- Dual-slide design with dedicated multimedia keys
Disadvantages:
- Non-expandable memory
- No camera lens protector
- Below average GPS performance, no support for other applications
- No office documents editing application
- Lack of RDS for the FM radio
Reviewing the Nokia N95 8GB is relatively simple to handle, thankfully. Not because it is a simple product, but because the original N95 is so well known and has been written about so many times that there's really little point in going over every function that's common to both devices.
