Nokia presented the 6260 Slide (See all news)

Nokia officially announced the latest handset that runs on its S40 platform, the 6260 Slide. Nokia's new handset will be the first Series 40 device to come with Nokia Maps and A-GPS for all your navigation needs. The cellphone packs in a 5 megapixel autofocus camera with Carl Zeiss optics, Wi-Fi, GPS, and a 2.4 inch 16M colors TFT display.

The handset comes with quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900MHz) support, in addition to UMTS (900/1900/2100MHz) with HSUPA support for ultra-high-speed data transfers. Other radios include GPS, Wi-Fi, FM radio and stereo Bluetooth v2.1.

Nokia's Ovi service is also supported by the phone, adding more functionality to it, since the 6260 comes equipped with a 5 megapixel autofocus camera with Carl Zeiss optics and dual LED flash so its users can upload pictures and videos to sharing websites. There is also 200MB of internal memory and a microSD slot with support for up to 8GB cards.

The Nokia 6260 slide sports a 2.4-inch 16M color display with a powerful resolution of 320 x 480 pixels (HVGA). The 360-degree D-pad is another first for the S40 lineup, it's a nice enhancement that allows a great mobile Internet experience.

The Nokia 6260 Slide is expected to begin shipping at the beginning of 2009 for an estimated retail price of EUR 299, before taxes and subsidies.
