"The G705 is ideal for those who need a bit of help organising their busy life." said Catherine Cherry, Product Marketing Manager at Sony Ericsson. "This life-enhancing phone has everything you need to keep track of your daily activities and is perfect for keeping in touch with friends. It also allows you to stay fully up-to-date thanks to the full HTML browser, email support, and desktop RSS feeds - all delivered at turbo 3G speeds."

The phone has quad-band GSM/EDGE radios, and will come in a tri-band 850/1900/2100 UMTS/HSDPA variant as well. It has Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP, FM radio and Wi-Fi. It comes with a full HTML browser and thanks to the built-in accelerometer sensor the screen will automatically switch from portrait to landscape when the phone is rotated.

The G705 handsets feature Google search on the standby screen as well as a built-in A-GPS module that backs up the preinstalled Google Maps and Wayfinder navigation software (a three-months free navigation license is included).

As mentioned above, the G705 has a 3.2 megapixel camera with flash that can also capture YouTube compatible videos. Both videos and pictures can be stored on the included 1GB M2 memory card.

In addition, Sony Ericsson also announced a partnership with Google, which means that YouTube will be integrated into selected upcoming models from Sony Ericsson. This capability will allow users to instantly download and upload video directly from their phone to YouTube.

According to the Swedish manufacturer, the G705 will come in three variants. The one bound for the American market is a global 2G/3G device that supports HSDPA and HSUPA for high-speed download and upload.

The main European model is a quad-band GSM but has only single-band UMTS/HSDPA (2100 MHz) and doesn’t support HSUPA while the third version, exclusive to the operator Orange, will be called G705u and will feature UMA. This would allow the handset to utilize the integrated Wi-Fi for making calls without using the carrier network.

The Sony Ericsson G705 will be available in select markets in the fourth quarter of 2008, but unfortunately there is no information regarding the price tag of the device.
